Stay Informed
Creating art is experimental in the development of a concept. Much thought and practice is involved in what determines a work. For me, being an artist is a delicate balance between the idea you wish to express and a clear understanding of the techniques you need to grasp in order to best express the intention of each body of work. I share insights into the studio, sneak peeks into current work on the go as well as invitations to upcoming events. To stay informed you can follow on social media, check in on the blog & subscribe for bi-monthly newsletters.
Artist's Background
I have always been intrigued by visual dialogue and the role art plays in society, which naturally directed my studies. I was born in 1989 in Modimolle, Limpopo, before turning two, my family relocated to the Cape for my Fathers work as a Nature Conservationist. At the age of ten, we relocated to Settlers in rural Limpopo. In 2007 I relocated to Pretoria to pursue a BA at Tshwane University of technology. After graduating, I met my fiancé and followed Hugo to Heidelberg, Gauteng, we then moved to the Western Cape in 2022 with our son. I facilitated art classes, managed galleries and consulted for corporate collections for over a duration of eight years in previous experience gained alongside my artistic practice.
Artist's Studio
An artists' studio is an intriguing space, full of ideas waiting to happen, books on multiple topics, research papers, collections from the natural world, colour and light studies, numerous media experimentations, muses and inspirations. In addition, an artist's studio houses failed pieces, rehashed work, exciting new pieces, and, most importantly - work in progress.
