introduction
I seek to highlight the butterfly effect of inherited worldviews across generations while fostering mindfulness of our collective purpose. Inspired by rural scenes, fleeting observations, and imagery that reflects the layered complexities of South African existence.
I create as a reflection of lived experiences and evolving perceptions, to record African scenes 'today’.

what i create
My disciplines inform and enrich one another as I explore the relationship between planes and the various facets combined media enables.
There is a very tactile nature in the creative process of practising as a sculptor in bronze and ceramics. For me, the direct manipulation of materials enables the artwork’s intent to develop to higher ends. Artists build a strong connection and understanding of their materials. A beautiful saying states ‘concept dictates media’. Sculpture enables art to step out into physical space, create immersive experiences and instil an emotive response - enabling the purpose of my practice.

Painting with 'buttery' textures, developing scientific reactions in material processes while working to express concepts which have social and or environmental commentary are the kinds of things that make my heart skip a beat. For me, interdisciplinary practice enables my conceptual framework as the layers within each work build up just the way I like - intricate, dreamlike, rich in mark-making and bold. I find the creative process of developing thematic work in the initial phase messy, scientific and unfolding. The rawness and instant brain to hand connection draw me to create sculptures and interdisciplinary work - primarily on canvas with inks, acrylics, oils and charcoal.
Majoring in print making and sculpture has shaped my practice. In my practise, mark-making processes are culminations of both spontaneous and controlled techniques both in the physical and the digital realm. I create artwork by hand, and evolve originals into digital collage work. The cross-over speaks to the conceptual framework being of a generation crossing over to the digital age.
